From Tree To Sea is the creative expression of Lauren Strybos, a self-taught ceramicist and former wildlife biologist from southern Ontario. With a passion for the outdoors & environmental conservation, along with a love of playing with clay since childhood, Lauren creates one of a kind ceramics that often have a raw, organic feel to them. Lauren and her partner spent 2017 wandering across Canada and various coastal states while living out of a trusty green Subaru Forester nicknamed Sage. Her travels have inspired much of her work, with an emphasis on tones, textures and shapes found in native flora + fauna.
After a recent decision to re-root in Calgary, Alberta, Lauren now works out of Workshop Studios, a wonderful creative community space in Inglewood. Most days you can find her at the studio working on orders & prepping for local markets, or at Plant sharing her love for species of the leafy variety.
From Tree To Sea ceramics are made in small batches using a variety of stoneware and porcelain clay bodies. Pieces often feature soft neutral & coloured glazes and a healthy mix of both smooth, wheel thrown shapes and organically hand-built vessels.
